A Fruitful Search

The night was dark and dank. Dan crept slowly through the thick, leathery grass searching for something he needed. He wasn’t sure what it was, but he knew it was for his mother.

Soon Dan was wet with perspiration and stopped to rest.

He ate his ham and cheese sandwich serenely, pausing only to listen for badgers. He was very wary of badgers since the accident.

Dan wondered if it was real or a dream, but suspected both may be true. Truly metaphysics for the masses, he thought.

He continued on his search, relentless, yet slightly bewildered. He tried to catch a duck, but failed in his attempt. Soon he found what he was looking for. He knew it by the unique shape, the gentle pulsating folds. Also, it gleamed gray in the starlight.

It was a brain.
