Check it out. Yo La Tengo’s first album is called “I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass”. You can see more at the Yo La Tengo homepage or at their Matador Records page or at http://www.iamnotafraidofyouandiwillbeatyourass.com, which is kind of a group video fan site or something.

Baa baa black sheep September 21, 2006

Truman has been doing a lot of singing lately too which is generally funny as it’s in his own peculiar vernacular. His favorite lately is “Baa baa black sheep”

Baa baa black sheep
Have any wool?
Yes, sir, yes, sir
Three bags full
One my master
One my dame
…repeat ad cutey…

Quickies September 20, 2006

When Mary picked Ella up from school today her teacher said she wouldn’t believe what Ella did. The teacher had asked if anyone wanted to sing a song and Ella was the only kid to speak up. She sang “Sand in My Sandals”, which is a Kindermusik song she learned long ago and still sings frequently. No more shy Ella!

Mary got out all the fall / halloween books so we’ve been doing a lot of reading about ghosts and such things lately. Any time we talk about some place scary or ghosts Truman will look at you very sympathetically and say “I’ll hold your hand”. He’s so sincere about it that it cracks me up that he wants to comfort me (and not vice-versa).

Beck has been starting to get those hands and arms under control. He’s starting to really try to grab things and bring them to his mouth. Sometimes he just lays there and plays with his hands in front of his face. He can often grab the binky, pull it out, and wave it around too.

RIP: Ann Richards September 14, 2006

I was sorry to hear Ann Richards had passed away today. She was a feisty and smart woman and I had a lot of respect for her. I’m a little young to have been aware of her in her hey day, but I saw a lot of her on shows like Bill Maher and Dennis Miller and was always impressed. I wish we had more politicians out there like her…..

Dentist

Filed under: family — Alex @ 10:23 pm

Ella had her first trip to the dentist this week! Seemed to go pretty fast and everything went well. We couldn’t believe they did all the normal adult stuff but she did fine with it. We had the dentist say a few quick words to Truman too to encourage him to do some brushing. They’ve both been doing some good brushing since the trip, so that seemed to help.
